As I mentioned in the previous post, I became very sick for what is now 5 weeks since getting bitten by a tick. Diagnosis and treatment have not been easy, but progress is being made there. In the meantime, somewhere between my frustrations in macro flower photography and photography in general, and becoming super sick, my dad said he wanted a lighter camera setup while I was moaning about wanting a full frame Canon so we decided to switch. I will bring my Nikon D80 setup the next time I go to Toronto. In the mail came a ginormous box for me, containing a Canon EOS 5D plus associated lenses and accessories. Like Christmas!
I wasn't able to take the Canon out for a test drive until last weekend. If I hadn't gotten sick that camera would still probably be in a heap on my floor. But as it turns out, I was feeling half human last weekend and two friends, Angie and Carol, were going to Sunshine Slabs and the weather looked warm and sunny. I accompanied them, packing lots of warm clothes, a camping chair, sleeping bag and Thermorest mat, and the Canon so I could get to know the camera's settings. I had no expectations for the day - not even to take photos, and was just inexpressably glad to be in the mountains with friends sharing the same energy. These are the resulting photos. I even felt up to one climb - I lead the 5.6 corner slab.
